Getting the most out of your first scan

The Impact Team·August 11, 2026

Your first scan produces a lot. Here's how to turn it into a plan in five minutes.

  1. Start with the headline. The Overall score blends seven intelligence pillars — it's the honest number. Don't chase the code-quality composite in isolation.
  2. Open the Project Wiki. It's an auto-generated handbook: what each module does, the dependency graph, the key files explained. Best orientation for a new codebase.
  3. Check Risk Radar. The top hotspots are where your next defect most likely lands. Fix from the top.
  4. Set one quality gate. Even just "no new critical issues" changes behavior immediately.
  5. Scan a second repo. The moment two repos share an API, the Living System Map lights up — and that's where Impact is unique.

Everything else can wait. These five steps get you from "interesting" to "actionable".
